Students are studying from home with long periods of isolation from friends and family. Others face increased financial difficulty and the pressure of trying to find or maintain part-time work during the pandemic to ease their burden. These factors among many others, have greatly affected young people and with ever growing demand, it is necessary to ensure that all students have access to the mental health support and counselling they need now more than ever.
Currently Ireland has one student counselor per 2,448 students - the international standard being one per 1,500. Staffed by trained professionals, UCD’s student counselling service is critical to maintaining the wellbeing of our students and your support in unprecedented times will greatly assist in ensuring that each and every student can access this critical support quickly when needed.
Supporting mental health services in UCD has long been a priority for the entire UCD community and by contributing, you will help ensure that our young people are able to thrive, not just during the pandemic but throughout their time in UCD.
Thank you and stay safe.
