Students are studying from home with long periods of isolation from friends and family. Others face increased financial difficulty and the pressure of trying to find or maintain part time work during the pandemic to ease their burden. These factors among many others, have greatly affected young people and it is necessary to ensure that all students have access to the mental health support and counselling they need now more than ever.
Currently Ireland has one student counselor per 2,448 student - the international standard being one per 1,500*. Staffed by trained professionals, UCD’s student counselling service is critical to maintaining the wellbeing of our students and is in urgent need of your support.
Supporting mental health services in UCD has long been a priority for the entire UCD community and by donating you will help ensure that our young people have access to the vital support they need and are able to thrive, not just during the pandemic but throughout their time in UCD.
Thank you and stay safe.
